Nalorakk, the Amani lord of bears, is one of the first animal bosses within Zul’Aman. He holds Tanzar captive in a cage near his platform, awaiting his sacrifice if the raid cannot rescue him before the timer runs out. Defeating Nalorakk with time remaining adds an additional 15 minutes to the timer and allows the raid to free Tanzar. He will, in turn, reward the raid with access to a small share of gold and unlock Tanzar’s Trunk which will contain an epic armor if he was the first boss killed in the zone, or an epic weapon if he was killed second.
Koralon the Flame Watcher
Posted on 2010 under Guides, Raids, Wrath of the Lich King | No Comment30 Jun
Koralon the Flame Watcher is a Fire giant boss, located in the western wing of the Vault of Archavon. He is only accessible if your faction controls Wintergrasp.
15 minutes before a Wintergrasp battle, Koralon will become unattackable.
Overview
Koralon is a relatively easy fight, especially compared to Emalon. In fact, he is only slightly more difficult than Archavon, the only major difference being the gear requirement. He hits hard, and does quite a bit of raid damage.
Start off my dragging Koralon to one of the sides of the room. Tank him there until his fires became uncomfortable for either the tank or the melee DPS. Then kite him a little to a safe area and proceed normally. Koralon will continue dropping fires underneath random raid members – move out of them as quickly as possible. If the fire texture is not very visible, watch your debuffs – it will show there.
Periodically Koralon will gain Meteor Fists, similarly to the trash before him. Your tanks should be stacked in front of the boss (the OT can put Fire resist gear if they have it, it helps a bit), with all other players – at least 10 yards away from them. If the melee is positioned behind the boss, they will be fine.
Burning Breath is the other big damager the boss will do – unfortunately it’s a straight-forward raid-wide fire AoE, and there is nothing you can do about it.
Koralon also has a soft enrage timer – he gains a stacking damage buff over time, so your raid simply won’t be able to take the damage after some time, presumably around the 5th minute.
Strategy
Right after the pull, Koralon begins to stack Burning Fury, giving the fight a soft enrage. Koralon does not have a hard enrage.
Because of his Meteor Fists self-buff (amplified by Burning Fury), you will need to use two tanks standing in one spot. The Meteor Fists damage will be shared between those two tanks. It might be useful when not using 2 tanks to have high health melee classes around Koralon so the tank will not face too much damage from the Meteor Fists.
Everyone must get out of the fire spots quickly. Tanks should agree on which side to leave by. The Burning Breath ability (amplified by Burning Fury), where Koralon spins around, cannot be avoided and must be healed through.
Due to the heavy incoming damage on both the tanks and the raid it is recommended to have 3 healers. Make sure you have either Fire Resistance Aura or Fire Resistance Totem up since most of Koralon’s damage is based on fire.
It is also highly recommended that all members of the raid have an Add-On like Deadly Boss Mods, which assists greatly in alerting one of the fire spots.
In A Nutshell
- Use fire resistance aura
- Do not stand on fire
Loot

Koralon also drops 2xEmblem of Triumph in both 10-man and 25-man.

IMPORTANT! – To use the new features you must TARGET a player while they are in inspection range. This is a limitation on the API. In order to view your own information you must Target yourself.
What is GearScore?
- GearScore is an addon for World of Warcraft that allows you to quickly and easily judge a player’s level of Gear. Simply mouse-over any player in the game and their GearScore will appear in their tooltip. No need to visit the armory!
- GearScore represents the maximum potential for a player to perform. The higher your GearScore the higher your potential to heal/dps/tank. Remember however, that is is up to the player’s skill to match that potential.
- GearScoreAddon Official Website: http://www.GearScoreAddon.com
- (Get the latest news, updates, info about upcoming features and of course download the newest beta versions!)
- Use ” /GS ” to open your new UI.
- For a slimmed down version with minimal system impact check out GearScoreLite
How does GearScore Work?
- Whenever you mouseover a player in the game GearScore will scan that player’s gear and calculate a score. The scores are based on how blizzard assigns stats to an item and take in account ilevel, rarity, and equipment slot location. Scores scale smoothly as player’s level up and obtain new items.
- Everyone who uses the mod shares information about the scores they scan allowing you to search for player’s you’ve never even seen before.
What are GearScore’s features?
- Instant Score Calculation – Scores are calculated instantly whenever you mouse over any player in the game as long as they are within inspect range.
- In-Game Armory – Allows you to view any player in your database’s equipment and GearScore
- Database – Scores are remembered so that the next time you see a player you will know their score, even if they are in a completely different zone. The database feature also allows you to manually look up a player anytime you want 1000 faster then the armory.
- Communication – Whenever you scan a GearScore of a player you also share that score with everyone in your party or raid and everyone in your guild. This is very similar to how Gatherer works in sharing resource nodes.
- Average iLevel – With this feature you can also see the average item level of a player. This is perfect for such things as Ulduar vehicle assignment and upcoming changes to drakes in 3.2
- Master Loot Upgrade Mode – This mode is an excellent way to assist your raid in increasing their overall level of gear as quick as possible. Whenever you mouse over an item the tooltip will show how much of an upgrade in GearScore that item is for each person in your raid that can equip that item. Prefect for loot-council type raiding guilds and also excellent for leveling characters in helping to choose which item to pick from quest rewards.
- Reporting – GearScore also allows you to post the GearScores of player’s in your raid/party into chat. GearScore even has integration with Recount to allow you to see a graphical representation of your raid’s GearScores.
How does GearScore compare to ‘ratings’ websites?
- I started working on GearScore before I even knew of WoW-heroes or IMBA. I’m not sure how IMBA calculates its scores but WoW-Heroes scores are always about 1/2 of GearScore’s scores. Many people ask me to simply use the same formula these websites do. There are a few problems with that. The first is I don’t wish to steal a formula from a website and brand it as inline with their scores. Those sites make $$ from advertisers and if I steal their work I’m also stealing their money. Another problem with this is that the armory gives these websites more information then my mod, therefore they are able to take into account additional factors when calculating scores.
ZOMFG!!! GEAR DOESN’T EQUAL SKILL!!?
- I agree completely. However many players like to PUG. When you pug your forced to invite people you don’t know. A really sucky player with high GearScore will do more dps then a really sucky player with low GearScore. PUGs dont have time for guild-type interviews each time they invite a player to their raid. PUGs usually have no idea of the skill a player has. So PUGs are forced to use the only factor they know, your quality of Gear. If you don’t like this style of gaming I recommend joining a guild where nobody cares what your GearScore is.
- That being said, GearScore 3.x has new features that allow players to make smarter choices instead of simply dismissing you if your not at a bare minimum. The color chart for instances is colored from red to green to represent the difficulty a player might have in a particular instance. The in-game-armory function lets you see if a person’s GearScore is low because perhaps they are in PvP gear or wearing a Lance and overall helps you make a more informed decision.

In the wake of the defeat, the Wildhammers ventured north and forged a new home, Grim Batol, in the mountains of what is now the Twilight Highlands. However, although they worked tirelessly to create a better future for themselves, the Dark Irons, who established the city of Thaurissan in the Redridge Mountains, could not move beyond the memory of their defeat. Consumed by the desire for revenge and desperate to control the entire dwarven region of Khaz Modan, the Dark Irons led a two-pronged assault on the Bronzebeards in Ironforge and the Wildhammers in Grim Batol. Despite their past differences, these two embattled rivals joined forces and drove the Dark Irons out of Khaz Modan, decimating the armies of the treacherous clan’s sorcerer-thane, Thaurissan. Yet victory carried grave consequences. Although Thaurissan’s wife and queen, Modgud, was slain during the attack on Grim Batol, her death tainted the mountain fortress. While the Bronzebeards rebuilt their glorious city of Ironforge, the Wildhammers felt forever changed by the horrors they witnessed at Grim Batol. They fled their cursed home and never returned.
The abandoned city’s defiled corridors later became home to a number of nefarious plots. When the Demon Soul was discovered by the Dragonmaw clan and used to force Alexstrasza’s drakes to serve the Horde, Grim Batol acted as the red Dragon Aspect’s torturous prison. The Dragonmaw held Grim Batol through the Second War, before they were driven out by Deathwing, who planned to steal Alexstrasza’s eggs. Yet as Deathwing carried out his plan, the Demon Soul was destroyed, and the powers locked within were returned to Alexstrasza, Ysera, Nozdormu, and Malygos. Deathwing narrowly escaped an assault by the four re-empowered Dragon Aspects, although he did not leave empty-handed; in his grasp were the eggs of Alexstrasza. For their vile transgressions, the fleeing Dragonmaw were shown no mercy, and the struggle came to a quick end. Members of the red dragonflight were left behind to keep watch over Grim Batol, and for years they successfully guarded its desolate halls from further intrusion… until the arrival of the Twilight’s Hammer, a sinister cult who worshipped Azeroth’s malefic Old Gods.
The cult, seduced by Deathwing’s thirst for absolute domination over Azeroth, has claimed the Twilight Highlands as its base of operations. The black dragonflight has driven off the agents of the red dragonflight who guarded Grim Batol so that it may be used as a fortress for training Deathwing’s minions. The halls of Grim Batol run so deep into the highlands that it is unknown to what twisted end the Twilight’s Hammer is using this doomed dwarven marvel.
Called to action by the red dragonflight in the Twilight Highlands, players will be charged with putting a decisive end to the foul machinations developing within the level-85, 5-player dungeon of Grim Batol. The ferocity of the enemies within should not be underestimated, and with the assistance of brave Red Drakes and a handful of explosives, players can thin the ranks of Grim Batol’s occupiers through bombing flights into the ruined city’s corridors. Regardless of how successful these attacks might be, General Umbris will not allow his army to fall so quickly. In the end, adventurers will be left to their own devices, venturing into the darkest recesses of the dwarven fortress, where a nightmarish enemy is taking shape. Will you be able to uncover Grim Batol’s secrets and emerge unscathed, or will your destiny be sealed within this tortured city, like so many brave heroes before you?

Posted on 2010 under Horde, Lore, News, Patch Notes | No Comment24 Jun
Most of Azeroth’s savage trolls are infamous for their extreme hatred of other races, but the Darkspear tribe and its leader, Vol’jin, are an exception. Over the years, the Darkspears have proven to be invaluable members of the Horde. Vol’jin in particular is known to offer strategic advice to Warchief Thrall on a regular basis, and the cunning troll played a role in retaking the Undercity after it was overthrown by the rebel forces of Varimathras and Putress.
Yet for all of the tribe’s accomplishments, the Darkspears are still plagued by a tragic history of exile. Long ago they were driven from Stranglethorn Vale’s mainland by the more powerful trolls of the Gurubashi empire and then settled on a remote island. The Darkspears later sought refuge with the Horde when their isle was destroyed by a mysterious sea witch, and Thrall granted the trolls new lands on the Echo Isles off the coast of Durotar. Aside from a brief exodus when Daelin Proudmoore’s fleet arrived to hunt down orcs, the Darkspears enjoyed relative stability until one of their own, Zalazane, drove his brethren from their latest home.
The witch doctor Zalazane had been one of the tribe’s leading mystical instructors when he was inexplicably driven to insanity by the powers under his control. Utilizing dark magic, he enslaved many of his fellow tribespeople and amassed an army of mindless Darkspear trolls. Fearing that all of his tribe would come under Zalazane’s sway, Vol’jin ordered the remaining free Darkspears to abandon the Echo Isles.
Vol’jin’s Darkspears settled in nearby Sen’jin Village, which they have since used as a staging point to attack Zalazane. Over the years, members of the Horde looking to test their worth have braved the Echo Isles to confront Zalazane, and many of them even returned seemingly victorious with his severed head. These victories, however, proved to be nothing more than illusions created by the twisted witch doctor’s dark magic. Days after these trophies were taken to Sen’jin Village, they reverted to their true forms: painted rocks and coconuts adorned with wooden tusks, or even the heads of Zalazane’s enslaved trolls.
Despite these setbacks and his preoccupation with advising Thrall on Horde-related matters, Vol’jin has spent considerable time formulating a strategy to recapture the Echo Isles. Now he believes that the time to strike at Zalazane has come. As the Darkspear leader and his close allies Vanira and Champion Uru’zin await approval of their plan from the ancestral spirits, they have begun rounding up new troll recruits and staging reconnaissance missions to learn about Zalazane’s minions.
Yet Vol’jin’s trolls are short on forces, and the enslaved Darkspears on the Echo Isles outnumber them. The Darkspears are well-known for being among Azeroth’s bravest combatants, however, and fortunately many non-trolls have expressed interest in assisting Vol’jin, perhaps hoping that restoring the Echo Isles will eventually bolster the Horde’s strength.
Vol’jin is also aware of the strategic importance that a Darkspear homeland offers his allies, but he is motivated by more personal reasons. Zalazane’s betrayal was an affront against Vol’jin’s dream of a better life for his tribe, a destiny that his late father, Sen’jin, envisioned years ago. Only by retaking the Echo Isles will Vol’jin be able to honor his father and at long last secure a permanent homeland for the long-exiled Darkspear tribe.

Posted on 2010 under Cataclysm, Guides, Maps, News | No Comment13 Apr
In World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, players will have the opportunity to explore the newly reopened Mount Hyjal as Azeroth’s heroes, with the help of Ysera, Malfurion Stormrage and Hamuul Runetotem, are called upon to push back the armies of the Firelord, banish Ragnaros to the Elemental Plane and lay waste to the twilight dragon stronghold in nearby Darkwhisper Gorge. This all-new level 78-82 zone will feature multiple quest hubs, phased terrain and quest lines, portals to micro-zones within the Firelands, an all-new raid dungeon, and much more.
The World Tree
Players will be able to enter Hyjal by way of Moonglade, to take on a series of high-stakes quests in a historic location alongside some of Azeroth’s most renowned heroes. With a longstanding rivalry among the night elf leadership threatening to undermine the campaign against Deathwing, players will quickly discover the task of defending Nordrassil is more daunting than they had anticipated. In order to succeed, they must seek out the help of extremely powerful allies: the Ancients.
The Ancients
To protect Nordrassil and heal the devastation the invading fire elementals are causing across Mount Hyjal, players must first recapture the shrine of the wolf god Goldrinn. The ogres surrounding the shrine will not leave peacefully, but seizing the shrine will allow players their first opportunity to infiltrate the Firelands and shut down a key Twilight portal, slowing the advance of the nearby Twilight’s Hammer in Hyjal.
With the first portal dismantled, players will soon be sought by the wilderness spirit Aessina to assist in cleansing and healing the nearby forest, ultimately returning the land to its former splendor. This small victory, however, isn’t enough to deter the Twilight Remnants from attempting to scorch the forest once more. As you struggle to keep these foes at bay, you’ll also need to help the Guardians of Hyjal — a new neutral faction of druids and worshippers of the Ancients — repopulate the forest with animal life. It’s even rumored that Malorne has been spotted in the wilderness. Perhaps further investigation is necessary….
Amid the chaos, the Druids of the Talon will need players’ assistance to resurrect the goddess of winged creatures. Players begin the process by helping to slay a group of black dragons and closing a second Firelands portal from within. Just when you think things might be heating up, you’ll need to fight through a burning night elf town to shut down the third and final portal with the assistance of the turtle god Tortollus.
Darkwhisper Gorge
Your successes in Hyjal will ultimately lead you to the assembly of the Ancients, who have set a plan in motion to bring a powerful ally and demigod back into this realm. Before that can happen, however, you will need to infiltrate Darkwhisper Gorge disguised as a follower of the Twilight’s Hammer, acting quickly to sow discord within the entrenched faction, weakening it for the coming struggle. Only time will tell if the Ancients’ plan is a success — but you’ll need to do your part if there’s any hope of saving Mount Hyjal from the twilight dragons, Ragnaros, and his minions of the Elemental Plane.
Firelands
More information on this all-new level-85 raid dungeon is coming soon.

Icecrown Citadel: The Frozen Halls
Looming over the stark wastes of Northrend, Icecrown Citadel awaits those who would see the Lich King and his Scourge brought low and the threat they pose wiped from the face of Azeroth. The heroes who venture within will face some of the greatest horrors yet seen. But before you burst into the front gate of the citadel, an alternate means of entry beckons. Journey through three separate wings of the new five-player dungeon, Icecrown Citadel: The Frozen Halls, and follow Jaina Proudmoore or Sylvanas Windrunner into the Lich King’s domain.
Icecrown Citadel: The Frozen Throne
All across Northrend, many battles have been fought against the vile Scourge. Countless lives have been lost since the Alliance and the Horde first reached these frozen wastes, but the champions of Azeroth continue to march forward — and Icecrown Citadel, the cornerstone of the Scourge’s power and the home base of the Lich King, is their final target. Tirion Fordring and the Argent Crusade have forged an accord with Darion Mograine and the Knights of the Ebon Blade to form the Ashen Verdict. This coalition’s strongest combatants, along with the champions of the Alliance and the Horde, will lead the charge against the citadel. In the new Icecrown Citadel raid dungeon, Azeroth’s mightiest will face terrifying challenges before ascending to the Frozen Throne, where the Lich King and his runeblade, Frostmourne, await to deliver the heroes to their deaths….
Cross-Realm Dungeon Finder
The Dungeon Finder is now available, providing players with quick and easy access to five-player parties. This feature connects all realms within a battlegroup using an advanced matchmaking system, making it easier for players of all levels to find a dungeon group. In addition, players can reap additional rewards through the Dungeon Finder by choosing the Random option, which is available to both pick-up and pre-formed groups. Check out the User Interface section for more details.
Getting Started and Quest Tracking
A number of changes have been made to World of Warcraft’s introductory experience, including updated character and class information at the character-selection screen, more robust tooltips with images, improved health and mana regeneration at lower levels, and adjustments to various classes designed to make it easier for players to get started. In addition, all-new quest-tracking features have been added to assist players in finding objectives, including new interface functionality in the quest log, the map (“M” key), and the Objectives pane.
