History
One of the greatly malevolent and ancient entities known only as “Old Gods”, Yogg-Saron held chaotic tyranny over the world of Azeroth in its very distant past and was responsible for the creation of the Curse of Flesh to “facilitate assimilation” of the Titans’ creations. When the Titans waged war against the Old Gods and shattered their citadels, they found that the entities’ infestation had grown so severe that destroying the Old Gods would also lead to the destruction of Azeroth. Instead, the Pantheon took measures to neutralize the power of the Old Gods and to bind them within Azeroth for the remainder of its existence. Yogg-Saron was sealed away within the depths of Ulduar in the far northern reaches of the infant world, and had six watchers assigned to it which served as wardens for its near eternal imprisonment; the Titanic watchers known as Loken, Thorim, Hodir, Tyr, Mimiron and Freya.
Despite the power of the shackles the Titans placed on the Old God, Yogg-Saron’s influence has been felt throughout Azeroth’s history, including during some of its most pivotal events. The dark whispers of Yogg-Saron eventually proved capable of overtaking the mind of its prime warden Loken, who was then able to subdue the other watchers, facilitating any possible escape Yogg-Saron might attempt.
During the Yogg-Saron encounter in the Ulduar raid, three visions are shown to players which represent key moments in Azeroth’s history; strongly implying that Yogg-Saron is directly linked to these events somehow. These three visions include the assassination of King Llane by Garona Halforcen (which caused the fall of Stormwind at the end of the First War), the creation of the Dragon Soul by Neltharion and the Dragon Aspects during the War of the Ancients (which resulted in the first Sundering of the world), and a vision of the Lich King torturing Bolvar Fordragon (the man who would become the new Lich King after the death of Arthas Menethil). During this third vision, Yogg-Saron’s voice is heard to proclaim: “He will learn– no king rules forever! Only death is eternal!“, a prophecy of the Old God that would come to pass with Arthas’ defeat by the Ashen Verdict, and the words of which are eerily repeated by the spirit of king Terenas Menethil as his final words to his dying son.
Yogg-Saron also was the source of the corruption which befell the world tree Vordrassil when its roots grew too close to the Old God’s prison. The ancient druids growing Vordrassil destroyed the tree immediately upon discovering the sheer power behind the corrupting influence, however the taint nonetheless continued to spread to the Grizzlemaw Furbolgs who would come to inhabit the tree’s stump ages later. They became murderously insane soon after settling within Vordrassil’s remains, and began attempting to regrow the afflicted world tree. The Furbolgs also used the corrupting power emanating from the tree’s stump to resurrect the bear god Ursoc, who returned to the world a viciously twisted reflection of himself.

Can a Bear be a main tank do they make good tanks?
Absolutely!! When WotLK was first released the developers made it a core goal to bring all tanks in line with each other and for the most part do away with gimmicks that didn’t allow certain tanks to perform. Ghostcrawler, beta forum CM extraordinaire, has posted a big (well, big for a blue post) overview of some of the goals and decisions for tanking in Wrath. It goes something like this:
- All four tanking classes should be viable.
- Tanking should be “a little more fun.”
- Most characters in tanking classes (Warriors, Druids, Paladins, Death Knights) should be able to tank a normal five-man just fine, with heal specs (for Druids and Paladins) being the exception.
- Heroics and raids will require investment in tanking talents, but all tanking classes should be able to tank them if appropriately specced. Ghostcrawler notes that this is a change of strategy for Blizz; previously, for instance, feral druids were positioned by the devs as being better off-tanks than main tanks. Now, he says, “If nearly all guilds want the same class as their MT, we’ve failed.”

Gurtogg Bloodboil is a (presumedly) fel-sworn orc boss in Black Temple. The fight is a battle for survival combined with a tough healer gear check. Depending on the relative gear levels between healers and damage dealers, Bloodboil is usually killed fifth or sixth, and is a prerequisite for gaining access to Mother Shahraz.
The fel-sworn are those who have begun to transform due to their exposure to the energies of the Burning Legion. Their bodies have warped and twisted to take on a new shape as their souls become more and more evil. While they might start out resembling normal members of their race, their demonic features develop until they are terrifying beings, half humanoid and half demon.

Maiden of Virtue is a titan-like boss in the Guest Chambers wing of Karazhan. She is, ironically, being the Maiden of Virtue, put behind the rooms that are full of ladies of the night. It is unclear how this happened or who sent her. The Maiden is optional; it is not necessary to kill her in order to reach other bosses.

Terestian Illhoof is a corrupted satyr located in The Repository of Karazhan. He hides in a secret passage behind a bookshelf in the library. Cleansing of his presence will halt the respawning of demons directly by the bookshelf. He is an optional boss, but his loot table makes his death profitable to most adventurers.
The original satyrs are the descendants of the kaldorei highborne, the first being Xavius, who allied directly with the Burning Legion during the first invasion ten thousand years before the First War.

The Shade of Aran is a boss in the abandoned tower of Karazhan. He is the spirit of Nielas Aran, the father of Medivh, killed in a battle to contain the future Guardian when the power inside him awakened. How his spirit became trapped inside his son’s tower is unknown.
Aran is located in the Guardian’s Library in Karazhan. He must be fought in a very small arena which is a circle approximately 45 yards in diameter. He is completely untankable, almost never melees, doesn’t have a standard aggro list, and if he is pulled away from the center of his arena he’ll run right back.
Shade of Aran is an optional boss. However, after he is defeated, a teleport to his room becomes available from Berthold <The Doorman>, and all trash mobs from The Curator to Aran (exc. one pack outside Illhoof’s door) cease to respawn.

Nightbane is a summonable raid boss in Karazhan. He is a fiery skeletal dragon, transformed by Medivh from Arcanagos and formerly of the blue dragonflight. While not the ruler of Karazhan, a position apparently held by Prince Malchezaar, many consider Nightbane to be the true final boss of the tower, due to his superior difficulty in the early days of the dungeon’s release. A raid member must have completed the Medivh’s Journal questline to summon the boss. This means Heroic Shattered Halls and Sethekk Halls must be partially completed in order to obtain the [Blackened Urn], which is used to summon Nightbane.

This guide intends to cover basics so that you have the best chance of maximizing your PvP potential as a hunter. Hunters are a popular class because they have excellent DPS, good survivability, and many important support abilities that help our team directly in the various PvP settings.
- In world PvP, we have tracking to alert us of nearby hostile players, and the ability to start combat at long range and kite. We can feign death or use our pet to take care of mobs if an opponent engages us while we are in combat. We have good survivability in world PvP and are not an easy class to gank.
- In battlegrounds, we tend to easily top DPS charts and have a large amount of survivability. Due to our effectiveness at extreme range, we can stand in the back and snipe opponents. Our traps are tremendously helpful in BGs for slowing down flag runners or crowd controlling individual opponents.
- In arenas, we are abusively powerful in 2v2/3v3′s given the proper PvP spec. In 5v5 arenas, we provide a lot of different and valuable support although our DPS is somewhat secondary to that.
