Holy Priest Guide

Priests are the masters of healing and preservation, restoring their wounded allies, shielding them in battle, and even resurrecting their fallen comrades. While they have a variety of protective and enhancement spells to bolster their allies, priests can also wreak terrible vengeance on their enemies, using the powers of shadow or holy light to destroy them. They are a diverse and powerful class, highly desirable in any group, capable of fulfilling multiple roles.

In order to be a good Holy Priest, you must first know that the best Priests are not completely Holy, but have a few points in discipline — particularly Inner Focus, Meditation, Silent Resolve, and Improved Power Word: Fortitude. In the Holy tree, talents at high levels such as Spiritual Guidance, Spiritual Healing, and Spirit of Redemption are not to be missed.

It is important to wear appropriate gear. Gear with +spellpower is very important to priests. As well as “+Spellpower”, “+Spirit” gear is also very important to a Priest, because of the Spiritual Guidance talent in the Holy tree which increases your spell damage and healing by up to 25% of your Spirit as well as the Meditation talent in the Discipline tree, which allows up to 50% of your total mana regen to continue while casting.

Even up to level 50, Holy Priests can generally be great healers in a dungeon, as well as do decent DPS. There is a common perception that a Holy Priest is only a healer, but practice shows that in some cases casting some Holy damage spells (for example, spamming Smite) can achieve a very decent DPS output, especially if the Priest takes the Holy Talents to increase the damage done by those spells.

Priests are the only class capable of healing that has not one, but two talent trees dedicated to healing. Currently, discipline priests are widely seen as tank and prevention healers while holy priests fill the niche of raid healers. For that, we have a wide array of tools, but the healing spells you’ll most commonly use are:

  • Prayer of Mending
  • Circle of Healing
  • Renew
  • Prayer of Healing
  • Flash Heal
  • Binding Heal

Those should have spots on your main action bar and be easily accessible. Less commonly used but good to keep keybound and memorized are:

  • Power Word: Shield
  • Greater Heal
  • Divine Hymn
  • Holy Nova
  • Desperate Prayer

Feral Druid Bear Tank Guide

Can a Bear be a main tank do they make good tanks?
Absolutely!! When WotLK was first released the developers made it a core goal to bring all tanks in line with each other and for the most part do away with gimmicks that didn’t allow certain tanks to perform. Ghostcrawler, beta forum CM extraordinaire, has posted a big (well, big for a blue post) overview of some of the goals and decisions for tanking in Wrath. It goes something like this:

  • All four tanking classes should be viable.
  • Tanking should be “a little more fun.”
  • Most characters in tanking classes (Warriors, Druids, Paladins, Death Knights) should be able to tank a normal five-man just fine, with heal specs (for Druids and Paladins) being the exception.
  • Heroics and raids will require investment in tanking talents, but all tanking classes should be able to tank them if appropriately specced. Ghostcrawler notes that this is a change of strategy for Blizz; previously, for instance, feral druids were positioned by the devs as being better off-tanks than main tanks. Now, he says, “If nearly all guilds want the same class as their MT, we’ve failed.”

Hunter Beast Mastery PvP Guide

Intro

The tree Beast Mastery is pretty self explanatory. If you decide to go down this route you will be relying on your faithful companion to provide a large portion of your damage and utility. Having a strong additional damage source can be a great tactical advantage, but you must also be cautious because the loss of your pet can have devastating consequences due to the difficulty of trying to get it back into the fight while under pressure.

BM Hunters are classified as the easiest of the three hunter specs to play. This is likely because the talent tree does not provide many additional new abilities beyond Bestial Wrath and Intimidation. The complexity and depth of the class as a whole and the reliance on your pet give the spec more depth than at first glance. What makes the tree unique is that it does a good job of building upon itself without introducing new abilities. BM lacks the utility that the survival and marksman trees bring to the table, but makes up for that fact with the introduction of what I believe is the single most powerful PVP ability in the game. Bestial Wrath backed up with The Beast Within is more than a damage amplifier, it provides CC (crowd control) immunity for a long period of time. This in itself makes it invaluable in fighting most classes that disable and lock you down. BM gives you the best tools to PVP kite (keep an enemy at bay while on the move) like no other class or spec can.

Archaeology

  • New Secondary Profession: Archaeology – lets you collect and use artifacts unearthed from the ancient races
  • No longer linked to Path of the Titans; Geared more towards exploring the lore of the game.
  • Each archaeologist uses the profession to uncover clues hidden in the world around them, such as troll relics or map fragments, and decipher their meaning, enabling the clever archaeologist to manipulate pieces of the past, learning the location of a treasure cache or valuable artifact. Such artifacts are highly sought after by the Archaeology Society, and they pay in gold and items for their return.
  • Interacting with an artifact you find is similar to other gathering professions. It has been specifically stated that you will be able to track both Artifacts and your regular “tracking” for gathering professions.
  • Recovered artifacts will be placed in a Journal, not in bags
  • Rewards from Archaeology will be something “like”: a skeletal T-Rex non-combat pet or the ability to teleport to a dungeon you’ve been to before
  • Two types of artifacts: Common – more lore-oriented; and Rare – when combined will create usable items, sometimes even weapons

Reforging

  • allows Tailor to modify cloth gear, Leatherworkers to modify leather, etc.; Specifically, they can reduce a single statistic on applicable items and convert 50% of the lost points into another stat not already on the item; this service can also be provided to other players if you see fit
  • it appears this will be enacted using scrolls, and some stats may not be permissible to swap over, like stamina —> strength – see link for more info

Herbalism

  • All Cataclysm herbs have the chance of containing Volatile Life.
  • There won’t be a new Lotus equivalent in Cataclysm.
  • Heartblossom — Named for its deep red color, this delicate flower grows close to the ground, and always in pairs. If one blossom is taken, the other flower begins to wilt immediately and dies soon after. It is considered very unlucky to disturb a Heartblossom without blessing it first.”

Mining

  • Obsidian is the new common mineral found when mining in Cataclysm, and can contain gems, Volatile Fire, and Volatile Shadow.
  • Elementium is the new uncommon mineral found when mining in Cataclysm, and can contain gems, Volatile Fire, Volatile Water, or Volatile Earth.
  • Pyrite is the new rare mineral found when mining in Cataclysm, and can contain gems and Volatile Fire.
  • Previous Elementium Ore and Bar used for classic quests will be renamed to Elementium Ingot and Hardened Elementium Bar.

Skinning

  • Savage Leather, the basic Cataclysm leather, can be gathered from most creatures found in the expansion areas and can be converted to Heavy Savage Leather at a 6:1 rate.
  • Pristine Hide, the rare Cataclysm hide, can be found when skinning creatures in the expansion areas, or be converted from Heavy Savage Leather.

Alchemy

  • New elixirs will be about 75% as strong as flasks. So you can get more total stat points with two elixirs, but flasks will still be the best at giving you a single offensive or defensive stat.
  • New unique material used by nearly all high-level recipes will be created by alchemists on a one-day cooldown.
  • New Mysterious Potion created with common materials restores health and mana in a massively random range, as well as sometimes granting the benefit of another potion. The health and mana range is from 1-20,000 and is able to crit. The minimum amount restored, however, is scaled upwards by the Alchemy skill, making it a great choice for alchemists to keep for themselves.
  • All potions and elixirs now use the same basic vial type. Flasks still use a fancy vial.
  • New Alchemist Stone.

Enchanting

  • may be able to finally enchant gear with resilience
  • In general, material component costs for most recipes are more moderate in how much they require, while the highest-end recipes will still require large quantities. The goal of this change is to make the leveling recipes more consistent and not create unintended roadblocks in getting to the higher skill levels.
  • An enchanter vanity pet is being added.

Weapon Enchantments

  • Avalanche — Chance to deal Nature damage on melee hit/spell hit.
  • Elemental Slayer — As expected, this enchantment helps players deal devastating damage to elemental creatures.
  • Hurricane — A stacking haste proc.
  • Heartsong — Mana regeneration through increased Spirit when chain-casting spells.
  • Many more maximum-level enchantments are still in progress.

Engineering

  • Engineering is still being designed, but expect new unpredictable gadgets to use on yourself or enemies. Toys, explosives, and even a new vanity pet or two. Oh, and powerful mechanical bows and crossbows in addition to guns.
  • In general, we want Engineering to remain a tradeskill mainly focused on creating fun or useful gadgets for the engineer, but we are exploring options for items that can be sold to other players for profit.

Inscription

  • With the large number of class changes coming with Cataclysm, many existing glyphs will see new functionality.
  • Minor glyphs are woefully uneven from one class to the next right now, so they’re a focus for us to clean them up and try to ensure that everyone has minor glyphs they’re excited about.
  • New Darkmoon Cards will be added, with hopes they’ll all be as awesome as the Greatness card.
  • We’ll be adding more major glyphs as well, but in the hopes of making them as balanced as possible, we’ll likely wait until after the expansion ships to add any for the new abilities in Cataclysm.
  • New and more desirable off-hand and relic recipes will be added.
  • Addition of ‘Medium Glyphs’ that may focus more on ‘fun’ alterations to abilities. Idea is to have 3 of each type of Glyph (Minor, Medium, and Major) at level 85
  • Possibility of making Glyphs permanent and swappable
  • Glyph UI will now show all Glyphs that are available to your class

Jewelcrafting

  • Some gem colors have changed! Hit is now blue. Mastery and Dodge are yellow. Intellect is now red. These simple changes have created a much more diverse matrix of gem cuts.
  • New Jewelcrafting dailies will be introduced.
  • Many cuts are being added to support the new Mastery stat.
  • Some new Cataclysm jewelry recipes have completely random properties, and can sometimes create superior and epic versions.
  • Jewelcrafters will have some fun new (and potentially lucrative) vanity items, including fist weapons, rhinestone sunglasses, monocles, and stardust (sprinkle on players for entertainment).

Cooking

  • Cooking is still in the early stages, but we plan on continuing with daily quests, feasts, and some fun new recipes.
  • We liked the cooking dailies that had players picking up items that spawned in the world near the quest giver, so most if not all new cooking dailies will work similarly.

First Aid

  • Bandages will have a short cast time and put a heal over time effect on the target for 8 seconds. This effect is broken by damage.
  • Three new bandages! That’s right: THREE!
  • “Dense Embersilk Bandage” Heals for 34,800 over 8 seconds. Requires 3 Embersilk to create.

Fishing

  • Lots of new fish and other fun items to catch! Fish are still used to make premium food.
  • New fishing dailies.

Other

  • New Recipes
  • Skill Cap raised to 525 – “Illustrious”
  • Skill Points: allow the gaining of multiple points for some tasks; while intended for Crafting profs, this has been mentioned for Gathering as well
  • Profession Specialization removed

This is a list aimed at tanks starting leveling in Northrend who need to put together a set of tanking gear quickly, but can also be useful for people looking for pieces in a slot or two. All the items listed here are blue quality, and can be obtained through quests, reputation, or crafting. Drops are not included because the intent is to give a list of gear that can be obtained quickly.

  1. Starting at 71-74, do all Wyrmrest quests at the Wyrmrest temple. Once you’ve completed these, purchase a Wyrmrest Accord tabard and put it on. (Don’t let the first level 80 instance catch you by surprise.) Continue wearing the tabard, and do the daily quest at Wyrmrest temple every day as you level until you reach at least Revered with the Wyrmrest Accord.
  2. At level 74, get yourself a [Tempered Saronite Belt] off the Auction House or have someone make you one. Buy and attach an [Eternal Belt Buckle] to it, and socket it with a [Thick Sun Crystal] for a total of 69 defense rating. Optionally, purchase other pieces in the Tempered Saronite “set” to use as leveling gear or as fallback pieces in case you can’t get one of the recommended items before you start raiding or doing heroics.
  3. Head to Zul’Drak as soon as you can. (level 74 or so) and find a partner to do the “Wanted: Ragemane’s Flipper” quest at given the first Argent Crusade camp. Get [Crescent of Brooding Fury] for completing the quest.
  4. Still in Zul’Drak, follow quests to Argent Stand (the major Argent Crusade base in the zone). Do quests there to improve your Argent Crusade rep, including the dailies. Continue to do these daily quests every day as you level until you reach Revered with the Argent Crusade. (There are more quests that give Argent Crusade rep than Wyrmrest rep, so don’t take off the Wyrmrest tabard until you’re finished with Wyrmrest rep.)
  5. Move back to the west edge of Zul’Drak and do the quests from the Argent Crusade Forward Camp for more AC rep. Also do Stefan’s quests from Ebon Watch to acquire [Betrayer's Choker]. Socket it with a [Thick Sun Crystal] for a total of 29 defense rating.
  6. When you reach an appopriate level (76-ish) start keeping your eyes open for a Gundrak group to complete the “For Posterity” quest and get [Solid Platinum Band].
  7. When you go to train at level 77, get a [Saronite Bulwark] off the Auction House.
  8. When you go to train at level 78, get some [Daunting Handguards] off the Auction House. Once back in Northrend, go to Wyrmrest Temple and purchase [Cloak of Peaceful Resolutions], and then go to the Argent Crusade camp in the southeast corner of Icecrown and purchase [Special Issue Legplates]. Apply a [Jormungar Leg Armor] to the legplates and socket them with a [Stalwart Huge Citrine] for a total of 87 defense rating..
Also buy an Argent Crusade tabard and have it handy to switch when you do this.
  9. Starting at level 78, keep your eyes peeled for groups for Halls of Stone to do the Brann Bronzebeard event and get [Pauldrons of Reconnaissance], and for an Oculus group to do the quests inside for [Bracers of Reverence].
  10. Optionally, also keep your eyes peeled for Utguard Pinnacle groups; the instance will give you Rep with whatever faction’s tabard you’re wearing, and the plate chest reward from the quest in the instance is a useful intermediate and backup piece if you have trouble completing Wyrmrest rep.
  11. Starting from the Argent Crusade camp where you purchased the legplates and tabard, complete the quest chain given by Tirion Fordring through the building of the new tower, and obtain [The Crusader's Resolution].
  12. Follow the breadcrumb quests to your faction’s airship and do quests for Thassarian (Alliance) or Koltira Deathweaver (Horde) to establish the new Ebon Blade base at the Shadow Vault. If/when you reach Honored, purchase [Toxin-Tempered Sabatons].
  13. When you reach Revered with the Argent Crusade, purchase [Arcanum of the Stalwart Protector] and apply it to your helm.
  14. When you reach level 80 and Revered with the Wyrmrest Accord, purchase [Breastplate of the Solemn Council].
  15. As soon as possible, go to K3 in Storm Peaks and follow the chain starting with the quest “They Took Our Men!” until you get access to the Hodir quartermaster. Then begin working on dailies and other quests until you reach at least Honored with the Sons of Hodir and purchase [Lesser Inscription of the Pinnacle] and apply it to your tanking shoulders. This does not need to be done to become uncrittable with the recommended set if you follow the instructions, but you should start on it as soon as you can find the time in order to work your way up to Exalted for the epic inscription.
  16. If you have not already, obtain the following enchants:
    • A +12 defense rating enchant to cloak.
    • A +22 defense rating enchant to chest.
    • A +40 stamina enchant to bracers.
    • A +20 hit rating enchant to gloves
    • A +22 stamina enchant to boots.
    • A [Titanium Weapon Chain] to weapon.
    • A +20 defense rating enchant to shield.

In total, you should have an additional 54 defense rating from enchants.

Alternatives:

  1. [Blade of the Empty Void] from a quest chain at Ebon Hold involving the nearbly Vykrul village. (Lose 7 defense rating.)
  2. [Reinforced Titanium Neckguard] from quests against the Scarlet Onslaught. Requires a group to finish the chain. (Gain 9 defense rating.)
  3. [Tempered Saronite Shoulders], crafted. You may actually prefer these outright. (Lose 14 defense rating.)
  4. [Daunting Legplates], craftable. (Gain 13 defense rating accounting for the lost gem.)
  5. [Tempered Saronite Bracers], crafted. (Gain 14 defense rating.)
  6. [Tempered Saronite Helm], crafted. (Gain 23 defense rating.)
  7. [Silver-Plated Battlechest]: From the “Junk in My Trunk” quest in Utguard Pinnacle. (Lose 2 defense rating.) Also [Tempered Saronite Breastplate], crafted. (Lose 20 defense rating)

If you’ve obtained all the recommended except the Sons of Hodir inscription, you’ll have 705 defense rating, which is 16 more than required to be uncrittable. Depending on exactly what items you end up with you may have to alter your gems a bit, but it should be possible to make a viable tanking set from just about any combination of recommended and alternate items.

Frostmourne is the runeblade that Ner’zhul, the Lich King, thrust from the Frozen Throne, intending that Arthas Menethil — his unwitting potential host — would discover it on the continent of Northrend. It is currently wielded by Arthas, the new Lich King.

When Ner’zhul was transformed into the Lich King by Kil’jaeden, his disembodied spirit was shackled to a magical suit of armor as well as the runeblade Frostmourne, and trapped within an icy tomb called the Frozen Throne. Both the armor and the blade were crafted by the Nathrezim for the purpose of containing and controlling the Lich King.

Ner’zhul was not content with being a pawn for the Burning Legion, however, and began working on a plan for escape. The first stage of his plan was set in motion when he used his powers to push Frostmourne through the ice and out of the Frozen Throne, and plunge it into the snows of Northrend to await one who would claim it and become the Lich King’s agent. Ner’zhul found his agent in Arthas Menethil, the young prince of Lordaeron who had come to Northrend in a quest to end the plague.

Muradin Bronzebeard, a dwarven explorer based at the time in Northrend, was searching for the weapon after hearing of Frostmourne’s power when Arthas and his men arrived. When the forces of the dreadlord Mal’Ganis began to close in around them, Arthas and Muradin set out to claim it.

Deep within a hidden cave, Frostmourne was guarded by The Guardian and several revenants who tried to warn Arthas of the danger, but he ignored the warning and destroyed them. When they found the sword, Muradin read the inscription on the dais:

“Whomsoever takes up this blade shall wield power eternal. Just as the blade rends flesh, so must power scar the spirit.”

Muradin realized then that the blade was cursed, but Arthas said he would gladly bear any curse to save his homeland. Upon speaking those words, the ice encasing the sword shattered and exploded outward. A jagged shard struck Muradin, seemingly killing him. Arthas didn’t even seem to care about his friend’s death as he discarded his hammer and took hold of the blade.

Frostmourne

With the sword in hand, Arthas returned to his base and staged a counterattack against Mal’Ganis, quickly destroying the dreadlord’s base. Mal’Ganis confronted Arthas, telling him that Ner’zhul had known he would take the cursed sword, and that it had now stolen Arthas’s soul. He spoke as if he believed Arthas was now on his side, but to his surprise Arthas used the runeblade to slay the dreadlord on the Lich King’s command. With his soul forfeited the Lich King, Arthas ran off into the frozen wastes of Northrend.

Now death knight of the Scourge, Arthas killed and converted his former army before returning to Lordaeron, where he was hailed with a royal welcome. Arthas proceeded directly to the throne room, where he killed his father, King Terenas, and set the Scourge loose throughout the city.

Some time after the Burning Legion’s defeat at Mount Hyjal, the demon hunter Illidan Stormrage used a powerful spell to attack the Frozen Throne, where the Lich King was imprisoned. Though the spell was unsuccessful, it widened the crack through which Frostmourne had been thrust, and the Lich King’s power began to wane, so he recalled Arthas to Northrend to aid him. Arthas defeated Illidan and ascended the spire of the Frozen Throne, then plunged Frostmourne back into the ice and donned the helmet sealed within, becoming the new Lich King.

New Cataclysm expansion, recently announced by Blizzard will bring brand new items, abilities, races and the 2 new professions. Each expansion in World of Warcraft introduced new professions- Burning Crusade Jewelcrafting, WotLK Inscription, while Cataclysm will introduce Archaeology and Reforging latest crafting improvement.

Archaeology profession

Archaeology will be the last of the secondary professions, allowing further customizations to be performed on the characters. New Archaeologists will have an option to search through various ruins situated all over the map for the different items of interest, just like Archaeologists in real life.

Through their research of the ruins, Archaeologists will be able to gather various unique artifacts and make notes. These artifacts will enable Archaeologists to further customize their characters, while handing these artifacts in to a Titan cult will bring them all different kinds of rewards, such as Teleportation, Vanity pets and new items of interest. Depending on the path they choose, Archeologists will be able to make new discoveries which will bring new passive skills and new abilities.

How unique is Archaeology?

All World of Warcraft professions are made to follow the progressive pattern, which consists of player’s learning the skill and leveling it up to the certain skill level in order to be able to use it for the specific craft. Archaeology will be different. It will not have the cap skill level after which the progress will no longer be possible. It will allow continuous advancing in profession, which will ensure the constant interest of players for this profession.

Reforging profession

Reforging will be introduced as a crafting addition, a skill which will allow further gear customization. Only the gear statistics will be subject to customization, unfortunately not the appearance as well. It will maybe be possible in the further expansions.

Reforging will be available to Engineers, Blacksmiths, Letherworkers, Tailors and Jewelcrafters. Those players who have one or more of these crafting professions will be able to re-customize the piece of gear originating from it. For example a Jewelcrafter will be able to take one stat from the ring. After altering it to the desired statistics, he will be able to return it back to the ring.

What is so unique about this?

The changeable statistics will not be limited to those that are already given on the item. If you for example have a necklace with stamina and intellect, you will be able to change stamina for the equivalent amount of the spell power instead.

This customization of the statistics will be available for all the items and not only those crafted by you. It will be of particular help to players who do not have the required professions. They will also be able to re-customize wanted statistics by seeking assistance from other players who do have desired Reforging skill.

Expansion Cataclysm will bring new dimension to World of Warcraft. World of Warcraft will certainly not disappoint the players, as it has been the most amazing and popular MMORPGs for quite some time now. The population of the World of Warcraft players is ever-growing despite the new MMORPGs that are constantly emerging. The quality of this amazing game has made sure of it.
